A Pink, Gold and Glittery Wedding ShowerJune 4, 2012
You may remember the dip-dye invitations that I was working on for my sister’s shower a few weeks back?
Well, the big day was yesterday and, let me tell you, it was a hit! The shower took place at my Auntie Kathie’s house, which also happens to be the most beautiful home with incredible character.
Here is Caitie, my sister and the bride-to-be, in all her gold, glittery glamour!
My sister’s colour scheme came from a Para Paints colour swatch and varies from a darker pink to a lighter pink. We used this scheme throughout…and threw in gold for good measure!
When I first saw Avril Loreti’s Paint Chip Table Runner, I couldn’t believe my eyes! It was the exact same colours of Caitie’s colour scheme. We purchased the runner for the desserts table and it was a nice little gift for Caitie to take home after the party.
The cakes were RIDONCULOUS! Caitie loves ruffle cakes, so we were referred to Sarah from Sarah’s Wooden Spoon and boy, did she deliver! We gave her the colour swatch and she made 3 perfectly-tinted cakes that not only looked good, but tasted even better!
Don’t they look tasty??? We also placed succulents around the house that were planted in little gold, spray-painted pots.
We also colour-coordinated the macarons. We went to Butter Avenue, gave them the swatch, and they delivered these adorable, mini macarons that were to die for!!
Other fun snacks included raspberries filled with white chocolate and milk chocolate chips and cream cheese-filled strawberries, topped with graham cracker crumbs – both were seriously tasty!
We rimmed punch glasses with pink sprinkles and sprinkled edible gold hearts into the punch – you gotta love attention-to-detail!
The food table was filled with homemade pizza and personal containers of veggies and dip, but the centerpiece was a bunch of the potted succulents in the shape of a heart. We also stamped some confetti circles in various shades of pink and covered the table with them, along with the gold, sparkly hearts from the invites.
We have been wanting to use these huge, gold, letter balloons for a while now and I thought this party was the occasion to use them – the “C” is for Caitie and the “A” is for Andrew. We also made the ombre, fabric garlands.
We set the stage for the party at the front door with a mini, fabric garland and gold, heart balloon. Check out Puck the dog’s internet debut!
And here’s Caitie again in her gold, sequined and pink tulle pseudo veil that we attached the bows and ribbons from the presents on to. Caitie loved the veil so much she wore it throughout the whole present-opening extravaganza!
All in all, it was a great time and Hoopla was so honoured to be involved – well, since I’m the bride’s sister and maid of honour, I kind of forced Hoopla into the party! But I’m glad I did – the guests, especially Caitie loved it!
And thank you to my other fab sister, Allie, for taking all the photos – you da best Al!
