You could say that Shannon Fitzpatrick is a hands-on type of gal. She rarely buys anything new because she would rather repurpose something old into something pretty. If there is a DIY option to anything, she’s doing it. She has been referred to as ‘The Queen of Crafts’.
Shannon has always been involved with events, whether it was completing her post-grad program in Event Marketing, being the head server at wedding banquets, arranging dragon boat festivals in New York, planning her own wedding, or designing her son’s birthday parties. You could say she was made for this venture.
After starting her itty bitty design/lifestyle/events blog two years ago, a new world opened up for her when she began to realize with excitement, “Wait, I can design and style events for a living?”.
And then Shannon proposed her business idea to her equally crafty and ambitious friend Robin…
Since Robin Itotani was a little girl she has always had some creative juices flowing throughout her body. In elementary school she loved Home Economics class where she learned to bake her first cinnamon roll and sew her first stitch! She loved to be outside playing in the dirt, rolling around in the grass, and picking flowers to make into garlands. To this day, Mother Nature still fascinates and surprises her.
Robin has had a long career in the floral industry. Going from schlepping buckets to designing full weddings and managing a high end floral boutique in the financial district in downtown Toronto, Robin has done and seen it all. Her love for fashion and music also helps her keep up to date with the latest trends.
Like Shannon, Robin loves to search for great finds antiquing either on the side of the road or in garage sales. She also loves DIY– sewing things, arranging things (flowers especially), and last but not least, shopping!
You could say that Shannon and Robin were meant for each other (in the totally platonic and working relationship way!)
Together, they are Hoopla Event Design and Styling. They use their creativity, craftiness and penchant for everything pretty to create hoopla for any type of occasion. Hoopla’s designs are uniquely handmade and combine whimsy and fun!
