BlogPodium & PARA PAINTS Blog Crew Contest
May 21, 2012As you know, we will be attending BlogPodium next weekend. Needless to say, we are pretty pumped.
And we are even more pumped at the prospect of winning the PARA PAINTS Blog Crew Contest that is being offered to BlogPodium ticket holders – seriously, there are major perks to going
Basically, we need to write a post outlining all the paint projects we have on tap for the year, submit it and wait patiently to see who wins!
And this is what’s on the line:
- A year supply of PARA PAINTS!
- Recognition as being part of the blog crew member on the PARA PAINTS website!
- And more!
We are DIY-ers, no question about it! We DIY projects in our homes and we also DIY projects for our business. Paint is a HUGE part of our projects and winning this contest would help us, not only jazz up our homes, but give us the opportunity to try new things with our events without breaking the bank.
Since we write Hoopla together, we thought we would each provide’ before’ photos of hopeful projects around our homes (because lord knows both of them need some TLC and revamping!) AND we would also provide some paint ideas for our event design business.
So here goes:
Shannon’s PARA PAINTS Projects
We have lived in our home for 3 years now and have only done some small painting projects. The two biggest rooms in our home – the kitchen/dining room and the living room – have not been touched paint-wise and that mustard-y yellow colour is so not my style! I really can’t wait to jazz them up with PARA PAINTS!
I have had this plain, old rug for 2 years. When I saw this amazing DIY stenciled rug last week, I KNEW this what my plain rug needed! I have the rug; I have the stencil; I just need the paint!
Another item I’ve had for a while…and plans to paint it have fallen by the wayside. This TV console is going to get a navy blue makeover with gold hardware!
And lastly – a little too ‘bubble gum pink’ eh? Ya I know. I am hoping to paint this in a dark gray for the new baby’s nursery.
Robin’s PARA PAINTS Projects
It will be my 1 year anniversary of being a home owner at the end of this month! I cannot believe how quickly a year has come and gone, yet my house still seems to have this yellowy, beigey, taupey kind of hue throughout. With all my wedding planning going on, I just have not had the time or money to paint and really make this house my home. I am planning big things for this house and first step is to paint!
My entry way and living room wall need some serious pick me ups. My entrance needs a cool backdrop and I would love to transform this wall into an accent wall and make it the focal point of the living room! I will be knocking down that shelf and filling the wall with art, photos, and possibly some plants on block shelving units from top to bottom.
These are my stairs leading up to all the bedrooms. These walls need a fresh coat of paint and so do the bannister and trim!
This is the spare washroom, or what people refer to it as “The Nautical Room”. It is the only room in the entire house that is painted a different colour….and it’s BABY BLUE!! When I am in there I feel like I should have one of those wooden seagulls, put on a marine hat, smoke my pipe, and have the toilet flush make a blow horn noise. I do have this amazing Marrimekko shower curtain that I am dying to put it up, but first this washroom needs a serious coat of paint!
This set was passed onto us by my fiancee’s mother who had received it from her mother. It has been in the family for ages, and it is starting to show. I am a big fan of all the detailing on both the table and hutch, but I would LOVE to re-paint both the pieces in a cool shade of green and replace the pulls with some brass or gold ones. Unfortunately I will have to buy new chairs though – the original guys aren’t doing so well and we have already had three casualties.
Hoopla’s PARA PAINTS Projects
Being in the event styling industry we rely heavily on paint for so many different projects. Choosing the colour scheme of any event sets the mood and defines how your event will look and feel. One of the first questions we ask our clients is “What is your colour scheme?”
Signage
(both photos from previous events)
In every event we are always creating some sort of signage. Whether it is a bunting or banner or posters, we are constantly using paint to design them with.
Containers
Lately we have been really into painting vessels for our floral arrangements. Painting containers always make them look unique and different!
Backdrops
Dessert tables, photobooths, head tables – the list goes on and on. Backdrops are one way to set your event apart from the rest…and they need paint to create them! We are loving this ombre look.
Hoopla’s Office
And last, but not least, our work space. We love colour, but this room is so boring! The one thing we would love to do is paint these walls with some fabulous, bright colours.
We could go on and on with more projects, but we must stop before we get too ahead of ourselves!
A big thank you to BlogPodium and PARA PAINTS for this opportunity. Wish us luck!
